[17:56]<@BC_Programming> haha
[17:56]<@BC_Programming> somebody actually asked for help with DOS on the CH DOS Forum
[17:56]<@BC_Programming> so of course none of the regulars there knew what the hell to do
[17:56]<@BC_Programming> because the forum really should be called "NT Command Interpreter"
[17:58]<@BC_Programming> Heaven forbid somebody go to a forum titled "MS-DOS" and expect people in there to have access to MS-DOS and have knowledge about it. Poor bastard would have been torn apart
[17:59]<Quantos> LOL
[18:00]<@BC_Programming> I helped them with determining the mode of their serial port, meanwhile Squashman was asking for output from MODE /? because he doesn't have access to a DOS system
[18:02]<Quantos> That's funny
[18:03]<@BC_Programming> It's not unique to CH though, almost any forum called a "DOS" forum is actually about the NT Command interpreter and batch scripting on Windows, so when people actually have DOS issues everybody is like "herr durr I dunno"
[18:04]<@BC_Programming> http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,148528.0.html
[18:04]<@BC_Programming> He also insults the OP, I thought that was a nice touch
[18:08]<Quantos> Oh, that's a proven way to win friends and influence people
[18:11]<@BC_Programming> I do like how I just helped him instead of being a whiny bitch
[18:23]<@BC_Programming> In other news I had a stomachach yesterday evening that woke me up and for some reason for like an hour I thought it was because I installed a mod in Minecraft that changes how food works in the game
[18:23]<@BC_Programming> "It must have changed how Pizza works"
[18:24]<@BC_Programming> it took what I think is a disturbingly long time after I was more lucid to realize that there is no connection and that was stupid half-asleep logic
[20:13]<+camerongray> I really don't get why people go so insane making massive batch programs
[20:13]<+camerongray> Batch is horrible!
[20:13]<+camerongray> Fine if you need to make a script to automate command line stuff, but I don't get why people use it to make games.etc
[20:14]<@BC_Programming> Yes this is all very true
[20:14]<+camerongray> Did you see the one thread I posted in?
[20:14]<@BC_Programming> I think the most I'll do is a few quick one of for commands for a specific purpose
[20:15]<+camerongray> When they tried to make a project as a group which resulted in them somehow trying to share the code across the forum as they changed
[20:15]<+camerongray> changed it*
[20:15]<+camerongray> And I was like "USE GITHUB FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!"
[20:15]<+camerongray> On the plus side they actually did
[20:15]<@BC_Programming> oh is that the Bobshiver guy?
[20:15]<+camerongray> yeah
[20:17]<+camerongray> I also finally have enough stuff on Github for this: https://osrc.dfm.io/camerongray1515/ :P
[20:17]<@BC_Programming> mainly it's rather dumb that somehow people looking for help with DOS have to deal with people who probably have never used it...
[20:18]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, speaking of DOS
[20:18]<+camerongray> I just bought a new hard drive for the XT
[20:18]<@BC_Programming> hmm that tool must not look backwards very far?
[20:18]<+camerongray> No idea
[20:18]<@BC_Programming> it says all of my commits are to C# repos but I have probably 20 times as many commits to GriefPrevention from ages back
[20:19]<@BC_Programming> I guess it doesn't check other repos
[20:19]<+camerongray> Glad it doesn't say I write Erlang - I wrote something for KDE using ECMAScript and for some reason Github read the .es extension as Erlang
[20:19]<+camerongray> No idea if it works but it was £30
[20:19]<@BC_Programming> That isn't too bad
[20:19]<@BC_Programming> well assuming it works I mean, if it doesn't than it's a rather pricey paperweight I suppose
[20:25]<+camerongray> There is logic behind it :P
[20:25]<Craig> Hi guys
[20:25]<+camerongray> My current drive is half height hackily mounted into a full height space
[20:25]<@BC_Programming> What will you use the XT for, besides random messing about?
[20:25]<@BC_Programming> no problem with randomly messing about of course
[20:25]<+camerongray> The new one is an identical to my current one but comes in an official IBM bracket
[20:26]<+camerongray> So even if the drive is bad, I can properly mount mine
[20:26]<+camerongray> I care mostly about the bracket, the drive would be nice as a spare
[20:26]<+camerongray> I take it to uni games nights running Zork, always goes down really well
[20:26]<@BC_Programming> does the controller in the system support two hard drives?
[20:26]<+camerongray> Heh Craig
[20:26]<@BC_Programming> that would be like super pimped
[20:26]<Craig> How goes it Cameron?
[20:26]<+camerongray> It may do, never loomed
[20:27]<+camerongray> Looked*
[20:27]<+camerongray> Good thanks, yourself?
[20:27]<Craig> Doing well, bit hungry. :p
[20:27]<@BC_Programming> Did I mention my hilarious sleepy logic over a stomachache? Yes I think I did
[20:28]<@BC_Programming> "Ow I should not have installed Pam's Harvestcraft, it must have changed how pizza works"
[20:37]<Quantos> LOL
[20:37]<Quantos> Blaming MineCraft huh?
[20:38]<@BC_Programming> minecraft mod
[20:38]<Quantos> Couldn't have possibly been the anchovies after midnight :)
[20:38]<@BC_Programming> not on my main world naturally, that would be awful
